Teen was armed when he fled Atlantic City car stop, police say

A Pleasantville teen was arrested after he allegedly fled a car stop with a gun and ignored police orders to stop.
The 17-year-old was driving when Officer Ivaylo Ivanov tried to stop him as part of an ongoing investigation, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
The teen refused to stop and went through several traffic lights before stopping in the 1600 block of Adriatic Avenue, and running from the car, according to the report.
As the teen ran, he dropped a handgun from his waistband, Fair said. He then picked it up and continued running.
The teen then fell down, still holding the gun, Fair said. Ivanov gave him orders, which the teen allegedly ignored.
He got back up and ran until he threw the handgun and surrendered, the report says.
The teen was then arrested without further incident.
He was found in possession of 140 bags of heroin, 34 MDMA tablets and five gram of marijuana.
Th recovered handgun gad a defaced serial number and was loaded with hollow-point, according to the charges.
He was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession of a defaced firearm, obstruction of justice, eluding, three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and two counts of possession with intent to distribute CDS.
The teen, whose name is not being released due to his age, is in the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.
