A Vineland teen as arrested in the robbery and shooting of an Atlantic City man.
The 41-year-old victim called 911 at 7:50 Sunday night, saying he had been grazed by a bullet on Indiana Avenue.
A ShotSpotter alert first brought officers to the area at Atlantic Avenue at 7:19 p.m., but there was no evidence of a shooting, according to the report.
The victim told police he had been assaulted and robbed by a group of boys in the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue. He then went around the area looking for his belongings when he saw two of the suspects, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
When he tried to confront them, one of the teens pulled out a gun and fired, grazing the victim, according to the report.
The man left the area and called 911.
He was treated at the scene for a minor injury, Fair said.
On Wednesday, Officers Sangenys Estrella-Garcia and Timothy Bethel were patrolling on foot in the 1600 block of Atlantic Avenue, when they saw the teen who was pictured in the wanted flyer given to officers only about a half-hour earlier, Fair said.
The 17-year-old was arrested and found in possession of 17 grams of marijuana, according to the charges.
He is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, aggravated assault, conspiracy, robbery and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
He was taken to the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.
Detectives are actively attempting to identify additional suspects in the robbery.
