The Mizpah Volunteer Fire Company is closed due to an ongoing criminal investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Hamilton Township police announced the administrative closure without giving any detail.
The company's coverage area will be handled by other local fire departments, police said in a news release.
"The Township of Hamilton Committee ensures that the fire service delivered to the residents located in Mizpah’s coverage area will not be interrupted," the statement read. 
A spokesman for the Hamilton Township Police Department referred comment to the Prosecutor's Office, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
