EHC man convicted of Atlantic City shooting and stabbing

Egg Harbor City man was convicted Tuesday in a shooting and stabbing that wounded two people in separate incidents within 24 hours in Atlantic City.
Robert Harrell was already wanted in a Dec. 31, 2018, shooting when he tried to take a woman's purse in the area of Georgia and Pacific avenues at about 8:40 p.m. Jan. 1, 2019, acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill said.
A man tried to help the woman, and tackled Harrell, who stabbed the Good Samaritan.
The victim was driven to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus.
Officers were able to obtain a description of Harrell and where he ran. He was arrested at the Econo Lodge, the scene of his previous crime, according to the charges.
Just after 9 p.m. that New Year's Eve, a man was shot there multiple times in the face and chest.
He was taken to AtlantiCare in the city, and later transferred to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he survived his injuries.
A jury convicted Harrell in both crimes Tuesday, finding him guilty of attempted murder, two counts each of armed robbery and aggravated assault, and various weapons offenses, including certain person not to possess a firearm.
He was found not guilty of third-degree theft by unlawful taking.
A sentencing date was not released.
