A Millville man wanted for attempted murder was arrested Friday in Atlantic City.
Carles Bryant, 34, is accused of stabbing a woman who had a restraining order against him multiple times during a fight March 3, in the lobby of a Howard Johnson in Toms River.
Police were called to the hotel on Hooper Avenue at about 10:30 p.m., and found the woman unresponsive with stab wounds to her head, face and body, according to the charges.
The woman, whose name was not made public, has since been released from the hospital.
A warrant for Bryant's arrest was issued the next day.
He was arrested in by the U.S. Marshals Service on Friday in Atlantic City without incident, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer and Toms River Township Police Chief Mitchell Little said in a joint statement.
The exact location was not given.
He is charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Bryant is also charged with contempt in violation of a restraining order. That requires a defendant be held for at least 30 days, according to the statute.
Billhimer and Little acknowledge the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit, Toms River Township Police Department Detective Bureau, Toms River Township Police Department, United States Marshals Service, New Jersey State Police, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, for "their collective perseverance in connection with this investigation leading to Carles’ apprehension."
Bryant is currently in the Ocean County jail.
