Four Cumberland County men have been charged with luring a Bridgeton man to his death.
Joseph Lawrence, 26, of Millville, allegedly picked Jose Castro up from his home in Bridgeton's Ivy Square Apartments on Dec. 9, as part of a conspiracy to kill Castro.
Castro, 27, was taken to another undisclosed location in Bridgeton, where others were waiting. He was shot multiple times and then taken in a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan to Barretts Run Road in Hopewell Township, where his body was found the next morning, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said.
The Caravan was later found on a dirt access road off Gouldtown-Woodruff Road in Bridgeton, where it had been abandoned and burned, Webb-McRae said.
Lawrence, along with Bridgeton residents Anthony Moore, 33; Armahd Smith, 29, and Frank Lee, 33, are charged with conspiracy to commit murder and are in the Cumberland County jail.
Moore and Lee are also charged in a Dec. 18 shooting.
The New Jersey State Police and Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office conducted the investigation, which is still ongoing.
