A Philadelphia man was arrested after police responded to a shot fire in Atlantic City on Sunday night.
Jameer James allegedly threw a gun but held onto the magazine and a shell casing when police chased him.
Officers Adrian Nunez-Santos and Brandon Bower responded to the 100 block of North Morris Avenue just after 10 p.m., after ShotSpotter alerted that one gunshot was fired, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
Witnesses gave the officers the descriptions of possible suspects, who were found several blocks away, according to the report.
When they tried to stop to group, James started walking away grabbing his waistband, Fair said. Then James ran.
As the officers chased him, James threw a handgun to ground, which was recovered, Fair said.
James was allegedly found with the magazine and the apparent shell casing from the one shot.
The others who were stopped were released after questioning.
James, 41, is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a defaced firearm, obstruction of justice and resisting arrest.
He was being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
