An Egg Harbor Township man has been charged with driving under the influence after a crash in Pleasantville.
William Turner, 57, was heading west on the Black Horse Pike when he crossed into the eastbound lane and struck an electrical pole, Lt. Stacey Schlachter said.
The pole was cut in half, she said. The vehicle caught on fire, which the Pleasantville Fire Department extinguished.
Turner got out of the vehicle and was found in front of the Homestead Hotel, according to the report.
He appeared to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, Schlachter said.
Turner was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for further evaluation.
He then was brought back to the police station, where he was charged with driving under the influence and released on a summons.
