EHT man's medical emergency leads to Pleasantville crash

A man experiencing a diabetic emergency crashed in the Pleasantville Shopping Center parking lot Saturday morning, police said.

Dominick DeCarlo, 86, of Egg Harbor Township, wound up in the Taco Bell parking lot with his car overturned. He was safely removed from the vehicle, Capt. Stacey Schlachter said.

An investigation found DeCarlo was heading west on the Black Horse Pike at about 10:50 a.m. when he struck a traffic light pole at New Road and continued west into the shopping center's parking lot.

He then struck the concrete base of the light pole, and hit an enclosed trailer in front of the Taco Bell, where his car overturned, Schlachter said.

Pleasantville firefighters removed him from the vehicle. He had no serious injuries and was conscious and alert, according to the report.

he was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus in Atlantic City by Tricare.
