Dina Taylor thought she had her fairytale ending.
The Atlantic County woman moved to Maryland with her family and was preparing to marry Dionte Sims.
"Only in my dreams did I ever think that I’d be getting married in a beautiful mansion to the most kind, gentle, dedicated, & loving man that I would ever meet," she wrote on Facebook last month. "When they say dreams come true, please believe them."
But early Thursday, that dream ended.
Prince George's County police arrived at the home the couple shared in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, to find Taylor, 39, fatally shot in the roadway.
Sims, 38, shot Taylor during an argument, according to the preliminary investigation.
He then barricaded himself inside the home for several hours, police said. He also allegedly shot at two officers who responded to the scene.
Sims was eventually taken into custody, and admitted to shooting Taylor and firing at the officers, police said.
He is charged with first- and second-degree murder, along with attempted first-degree murder of two officers.
Sims jailed with no bond.
Taylor was a nurse who was passionate about helping people, according to her friends and family.
Her Facebook page was filled with heartbroken tributes to the mother of five.
The pair got engaged in May, with Taylor happily sharing their road to the altar.
In a July 28 post, she gushed how she had "said yes to the dress" she would wear to marry Sims.
She leaves behind three daughters and two sons. Her eldest daughter, who lives in Egg Harbor Township, has started a GoFundMe page to help the family.
