A Pleasantville teen was arrested with a gun and cocaine after an alleged drug sale in Atlantic City.
Detectives Chris Dodson, Chris Smith and Darrin Lorady saw the 17-year-old engage in the sale with a woman while conducting surveillance around Tennessee and Central avenues at 1:13 p.m. Friday, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
When the detectives went to arrest both, the teen tried to hand a satchel to a man nearby, who refused it, according to the report.
The woman, Desiree Mendez, dropped crack cocaine to the ground, Fair said.
The cocaine and satchel were recovered, and both were arrested without incident, the report states.
Detectives found a loaded handgun and a small amount of cocaine inside the satchel, according to the charges.
The teen was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of weapon while committing a drug offense, possession of a large-capacity magazine, possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute and possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone.
He was taken to the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.
Mendez, 38, of Atlantic City, was charged with possession and released on a summons with a future court date.
