Police continue to investigate a threat to the CVS in Margate.
A call made to Margate dispatch at 1:36 p.m. Wednesday threatened the store at 9301 Ventnor Ave., and any officers who respond.
Police said they take the threat very seriously, and have locked down the area while it's being investigated.
Washington Avenue between Ventnor and Winchester avenues where the CVS is located were closed with two officers outside the door leading to the parking lot.
Stores along the 9200 and 9300 blocks of Ventnor Avenue also were made to close, including the Wawa.
"The officers on the scene (Wednesday) took the necessary steps to ensure there was no immediate threat and to make the scene safe while a preliminary investigation was conducted," according to a news release.
The store remained closed for the rest of the day, but reopened at 7 a.m. Thursday.
Margate police are continuing the investigation with the help of county, state and federal partners.
Those who had been inside the CVS said they were evacuated and told of an active shooter, but that does not seem to be the case.
No gunshots were heard and no one BreakingAC spoke with saw a gun.
This story was first posted Sept. 22. It has been updated with the store reopening and investigation continuing.
