Atlantic City car stop leads to gun, drugs and two arrests

  • News

An Atlantic City couple were arrested after police allegedly found drugs and a handgun Thursday.

Police were patrolling Texas Avenue when they saw Hameed Farmer make several traffic violations, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.

The stop began in the 3300 block of Fairmount Avenue, but Farmer then fled west, eventually stopping about two blocks away, according to the report.

Farmer reluctantly got out of the car, but did not initially comply with orders, Aristizabal said. A female passenger, Christina Lockett, was also removed from the vehicle.

Police found a revolver, along with about six grams of cocaine, 280 grams of marijuana and about $400 in cash believed to be from drug sales inside the vehicle, according to the charges.

Both were arrested.

Farmer and Lockett, both 30, were charged with two counts each of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, possession within a school zone and possession within 500 feet of a public park.

They were also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon while committing a drug offense.

Both are in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
