An Atlantic City man arrested on drug charges had a loaded gun in his motel room, police said.
David Nesbitt, 22, was taken into custody after police saw a drug deal between him and Gregory Kinash at about 2:10 p.m. Tuesday in the 2600 block of Pacific Avenue, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.
Nesbitt was found with about 80 folds — or 19.6 grams — of heroin, 1.9 grams of crack cocaine, a crushed white-and-blue pill, a black scale and 50 grams of marijuana, according to the report.
Kinash, 51, of Millville, had about a gram of crack cocaine, Aristizabal said.
An investigation led by Detective Eric Evans led to a room Nesbitt rented at a motel in the 3000 block of Pacific Avenue.
A search of the room recovered a semi-automatic handgun fitted with a high-capacity magazine, along with 100 more wax folds of heroin and 122 grams of marijuana packaged for sale, Aristizabal said. Police also seized $2,510 believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
The gun was a "ghost gun," meaning it has no serial number making it difficult to trace.
Nesbitt is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon during a drug offense and possession of a "ghost gun,” possession of a high-capacity magazine, along with two counts of drug possession, three counts of possession with the intent to distribute, three counts of distribution within 1000 feet public school, two counts of distribution of within 500 feet of a public park, money laundering and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Kinash was issued a summons for possession and released.
The investigation was in response to numerous complaints about drug distribution and quality-of-life issues in the area.
