Mainland Regional alum Chase Petty has found a new home.
A blockbuster trade on Sunday saw the Cincinnati Reds send star pitcher Sonny Gray and pitching prospect Francis Peguero to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for Petty.
The 18-year-old righthander from Linwood was drafted 26th overall by the Twins in 2021, and was ranked as the seventh best prospect in Minnesota's farm system by MLB.com.
Petty allowed three runs in five innings with six strikeouts in his two games with the Florida Complex League Twins in 2021.
Now he's headed to a Cincinnati Reds organization that is well known for its ability to develop pitchers such as current ace Luis Castillo and No. 2 starter Tyler Mahle.
