Four Atlantic County men were arrested in connection to a heroin-fentanyl linked to 22 fatal overdoses, police said.
Six guns were recovered as a result of the investigation, including one stolen from Galloway Township, police said.
Wax paper folds stamped with “Beetlejuice” have been found on scene of 39 overdoses in Stafford Township and Atlantic County, including 17 that were not fatal, according to the report.
Kai Sylvester, 27, of Somers Point, allegedly was the main distributer, according to the seven-month investigation by the Stafford Township Drug Enforcement Unit and the New Jersey State Police Crime Suppression South Unit.
Abdul Shakur Hopewell, Javon Brooks and Leland Loftin, all of Atlantic City, conspired to distribute the drugs in Stafford Township and Atlantic County, according to the charges.
The men were arrested Tuesday morning.
Police also seized a Smith & Wesson .38-caliber revolver reported stolen from Galloway, along three 9mm handguns, a 5.7mm handgun and a AR-15 rifle, police said. Ammunition, 100 grams of cocaine, 71.3 grams of crack cocaine and 13,000 individual wax paper folds of heroin/fentanyl were also seized.
A 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and $14,205 were also taken.
Sylvester, Brooks, 39, and Hopewell, 28, were charged with various drug and weapons offenses, including promoting organized street crime and possession of firearms during the commission of a drug offense. They are in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Loftin, 49, was charged with third-degree drug offenses and released on a summons.
The investigation was aided by Atlantic and Ocean counties’ SWAT teams, State Police TEAMS and K-9 Unit, Department of Criminal Justice, High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Unit, Drug Enforcement Agency, Department of Homeland Security Investigations, Stafford Township Detective Bureau, Barnegat Township Crime Reduction Unit, Ocean County Narcotics Strike Force and Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department,.
