  • News

Four men were arrested after they were caught dismantling a stolen vehicle in Atlantic City, police said.

Detectives Aaron Jones and Ivaylo Ivanov learned a stolen vehicle was in the rear of the 900 block of Atlantic Avenue just before 11 a.m. Tuesday, Lt. Kevin Fair said.

The Dodge was reported stolen from Delaware County, Penn.

The detectives arrived to find Jervone Brooks, Trevor Brown, Abdul Ingram-Hopewell and Antonio Ellis using mechanical tools to take the vehicle apart, Fair said.

Seven key fobs belonging to unknown vehicles were also found either on the men or in the tools they were using, according to the report.

The investigation also led to a satchel with a loaded handgun and Brooks' identification, Fair said.

Surveillance footage showed Brown, Brooks and Ellis arrived at the lot in the Dodge, Fair said. Ingram-Hopewell arrived in a separate vehicle.

K-9 Officer Jesse Oliver-Logan and his K9 partner Gee, arrived, and Gee indicated the presence of drugs in Ingram-Hopewell’s vehicle, according to the report.

Detectives later found three grams of cocaine and 17 bags of heroin concealed in a child car seat, Fair said.

Detectives also located seven key fobs belonging to unknown vehicles either in possession of the arrested individuals or with the tools that were being used to dismantle the Dodge.

All four were all charged with receiving stolen property, theft, unlawful taking by means of conveyance and possession of burglary tools.

Brooks, 21, was additionally charged with possession of a weapon and possession of hollow-point ammunition.

Ingram-Hopewell, 29, was also charged with two counts each of drug possession and possession with intent to distribute.

Brooks, Brown and Ingram-Hopewell were being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Ellis, 26, of Egg Harbor Township, was released on a summons.
