A Pennsylvania man will stay jailed after allegedly having sex with a young teen on Memorial Day weekend.
Antonio Duncan, 21, traveled about three hours to meet up with the 13-year-old girl at her grandmother’s Avalon home, according to information presented at his detention hearing last week.
Duncan met the girl online, and spoke via Snapchat’s “quick add” option, Assistant Prosecutor Bryna Batten told the judge.
He then asked the girl about meeting up and traveled to the Avalon home May 27. There, Batten said, Duncan went through the residence’s backyard into the victim’s bedroom, where they smoked from a vape pen and had sex.
The girl later told her mother via text that the two had sex, even though she claimed that wasn’t her intention when she agreed to meet up, according to the affidavit. She also told her nanny that Duncan had been “on her” about taking the Plan B pill, since they had not used protection.
The girl was given Plan B, according to the affidavit.
It wasn’t until she told her therapist about the incident that police were called on June 28.
Duncan’s defense attorney said the two actually met on an app called Yubo, claiming that users must be at least 18, which was his client’s assumption about the girl’s age.
Judge Christine Smith ordered Duncan held on the charges of second-degree sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a minor.
He is in the Cape May County jail.
