A Lower Township man is accused of downloading videos and images of child sexual abuse.
Rene Valentin, 31, turned himself in April 10, after an investigation sparked by a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland and Lower Township Police Chief Kevin Lewis announced Friday.
A search of Valentin's residence in the township's Cape May section included the seizure of his vehicle containing personal effects, resulting in the charges, according to the report.
Valentin was not home at the time.
He was jailed, but has since been released, jail records show.
The third-degree charge carries a potential term of three to five years in prison.
