An Egg Harbor Township woman pleaded guilty Thursday to a scheme that bilked a Galloway Township woman out of more than $600,000.
Wei Song, 59, pleaded guilty to first-degree money laundering and second-degree identity theft.
She faces a 15-year term under the plea agreement with no parole for 7½ years.
Her co-defendant, Botao Liu, still has his matter pending.
Both were arrested last August, and indicted in November.
The couple moved frequently, but were last known to be living in Egg Harbor Township, police previously told BreakingAC.
The victim invited the woman she knew as Coco Li from Jilin, China, to stay with her family in Galloway Township after they became friends in 2014.
Over the next four years, Song gave the woman $600,000 for “investment opportunities,” according to information previously released in the case.
What the victim didn’t know was that Li was really Song, who had been in the country years after her temporary visa expired in 2010.
Song also pretended to be the victim and used her identity for financial gains.
It was not clear if Song will be deported once her sentence is complete.
At one point, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office released Song's photo in a search for other potential victims. It does not appear any were found.
Her sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 19.
