Atlantic City police recover two guns, arrest three teens

  • News

Atlantic City police arrested three teens — including two minors — in two investigations Wednesday that led to two loaded handguns, police said.

Detectives Eric Evans, Alberto Valles, Christopher Dodson and Nicholas Berardis were patrolling the area of New York and Sewell avenues at 3:46 p.m., when they saw a teen they were familiar with and stopped him as part of an investigation, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.

The 16-year-old was stopped in the 600 block of North New York Avenue, and found with a handgun loaded with hollow-point bullets, according to the report.

He was taken into custody without incident, and sent to Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.

About 4½ hours later, Sgt. Darrin Lorady, and Detectives Dodson and Eric Evans were looking into information the detectives received concerning two males with handguns.

Detectives saw Nasir Morgan and a 17-year-old in the 500 block of North New York Avenue and tried to stop them, Aristizabal said.

Morgan, 19, was seen discarding a handgun behind a dumpster as the officers approached, according to the report.

The handgun was recovered and found to be fitted with a high-capacity magazine, Aristizabal said.

Morgan also was found with about 22 grams of suspected heroin and about $400 in cash believed to be from drug sales, Aristizabal said.

The juvenile was allegedly found with about 10 grams of suspected heroin.
