Mays Landing woman indicted in husband's killing

  • News

A Mays Landing woman accused of killing her husband in the bedroom they shared was indicted Tuesday.

Marylue Wigglesworth was arrested after police found David Wigglesworth, 57, fatally shot on Christmas. The woman allegedly told police she shot him.

Her attorneys have claimed it was self-defense, presenting a woman who had been in an abusive marriage for years.

But the state claims David Wigglesworth was naked in bed watching television when his wife went and got a gun and shot him.

A grand jury indicted her on charges of murder and weapons offenses.

She will remain jailed after a judge ruled her self-defense claims were not enough to overcome the presumption of detention.

Wigglesworth, who turned 52 in the Atlantic County Justice Facility, is now being housed in the Cape May County jail. Neither her attorneys nor officials would comment on why the move was made six weeks after her arrest.
