An Atlantic City man was arrested in a stabbing Thursday.
Police were called to the 100 block of North Tennessee Avenue at 5:50 p.m. for the report of a man stabbed, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.
The 25-year-old city resident had a stab wound to his upper chest and was bleeding heavily, according to the report. The knife was recovered at the scene.
The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for treatment.
He was able to give police a description.
Witnesses told officers the man lives in the apartment building in the 1300 block of Baltic Avenue, which was the direction he ran, Aristizabal said.
Angel Gomez-Santiago, 21, tried to enter the apartment building at about 6:30 p.m., while police were searching, according to the report.
Officers Nickolas Cardani and Anthony Nastasi recognized him and immediately placed him in custody without incident, Aristizabal said.
Gomez-Santiago is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility awaiting a detention hearing.
