Atlantic City teen jailed on gun charge now linked to double shooting

  • News

An Atlantic City teen already jailed on a gun charge is now accused of attempted murder in a daylight shooting that wounded a man and a woman.

Quadri Cooper, 18, allegedly shot the pair, both 25, in the 400 block of North New Jersey Avenue just after 3 p.m. Dec. 16.

Cooper, whose first name is also listed as Quadir, was arrested six days later, when he and a 15-year-old boy allegedly hid a gun inside a store in the 1500 block of Atlantic Avenue after they were seen engaged in a drug transaction.

A defaced handgun loaded with hollow-point ammunition was found, along with suspected crack cocaine, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said at the time.

An investigation conducted by detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit has now linked him to the earlier shooting.

It was not clear if the gun he was arrested with was confirmed to be the one used in the shooting.

Cooper is charged with two counts each of attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault. He is additionally charged with conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

He remains in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
