A.C. man already in prison gets sentenced in second gun case

  • News

An Atlantic City man who incurred a gun charge while awaiting sentencing in a separate case was given 3½ years Thursday.

John Stevens, who was living in Ventnor when he was first arrested, is already in the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility serving 3½ years in a 2021 gun and drug case.

Stevens, 21, had already pleaded guilty in that case, when he was arrested again.

He and Carlos Garcia-Perez each allegedly had a loaded handgun in their waistband inside an Atlantic City convenience store in the 1500 block of Atlantic Avenue on Jan. 10.

Stevens was found with a 9mm Taurus G@C handgun.

Garcia-Perez's case is still pending.

Stevens pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a concurrent term, which means it will not add any significant time to his current sentence.

Stevens' current maximum release date is June 27, 2026, according to the state Department of Corrections website.
