Cape man admits to rape of Galloway Township girl

  • News

A Cape May County man faces 10 years in prison in the rape of a 14-year-old family member.

Taron Thomas, 33, of Ocean View, pleaded guilty Tuesday to first-degree sexual assault on a minor.

He admitted to sexually assaulting the girl in her Galloway Township home in April 2021.

This case was investigated by the Galloway Township Police Department.

Thomas is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 19, but that date will likely change as he first must undergo an evaluation at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Avenel. That is required of all sex crime defendants.

He would have to serve at least 85 percent of any sentencing.

Sentencing is scheduled for September 19, 2023 before the Honorable W. Todd Miller, J.S.C. pending an evaluation at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center.

Thomas remains in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
