Atlantic City man gets 10 years in Boardwalk mugging that blinded woman

  • News

An Atlantic City man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday in a brutal mugging that blinded a woman walking on the Boardwalk.

Kenneth Parrish, 58, repeatedly punched the 49-year-old victim in the head and face, causing her to permanently lose use of her left eye, according to the report.

He took her wallet and phone.

A good Samaritan intervened in the Oct. 8, 2021 attack and was able to subdue and detain Parrish until police arrived.

Parrish's mugshot shows that he had several injuries to his face.

He pleaded guilty in January to robbery by force and aggravated assault.

Parrish must serve at least 85 percent of his term -- or 8.5 years -- before he is eligible for parole.

He has been in the county jail for about one year and five months,
