A Philadelphia woman was sentenced to three years in prison Thursday for unlawful possession of a handgun.
Desira Covington, now 29, was arrested July 5, after she was stopped on the Atlantic City Expressway.
She was found in possession of a handgun that she did not have a permit to carry.
Judge Bernard DeLury rejected a request to give her a lesser sentence, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
Covington must serve at least a year in prison before she is eligible for parole.
