Two Atlantic City teens were arrested Sunday after they allegedly fled a shooting and hid inside a residence.
Police were called to the 100 block of North Maryland Avenue at 1:18 p.m. for a ShotSpotter alert from the audio gunshot-detection system, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.
Witnesses said they saw the shooting and several juveniles ran from the area.
No injuries were reported.
The juveniles were tracked to a residence in the 900 block of Baltic Avenue through an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Section.
Officers secured the perimeter of the residence and shut down the block to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
The Atlantic City Emergency Response Team, which includes SWAT and the Crisis Negotiation Team.
SWAT was able to clear the residence and detained the two teens inside, Aristizabal said.
Police then obtained a search warrant and found two loaded handguns, with one defaced and fitted with a high-capacity magazine.
The 15- and 17-year-old were charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a defaced firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, tampering with evidence, aggravated assault and conspiracy.
They are being held at the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.
