A teen wanted in an outstanding gun case was arrested Tuesday night as Atlantic City police were on scene of an unrelated shooting.

The investigation began May 10, when three suspects fled police, according to the report.

Detectives learned that the suspect went into an abandoned apartment in the 1500 block of Caspian Place, where they found two loaded handguns.

Three 17-year-old boys wound up charged with weapons offenses as a result of the investigation.

By then, one of the teens — a 17-year-old from Pleasantville — already was lodged in the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center in an unrelated matter, Capt. Kevin Fair said.

A second teen was arrested Friday, after showing up at his school in Galloway Township, Fair said. It appears he was attending the alternative school Atlantic City students are sent to in the township, as his home is listed in the 400 block of Westminster Place in Atlantic City.

When the teen's home was searched, police recovered a loaded handgun.

The fourth teen was arrested Tuesday night, after he was spotted by police on the scene of a shooting in the 4000 block of Ventnor Avenue, where a man and woman were wounded.

All four teens are charged with two counts each of unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a community handgun, along with possession of a large-capacity magazine, possession of hollow-point ammunition and possession of a defaced firearm.

The Atlantic City teen arrested Tuesday was with another 17-year-old and Sincere Chapman, 21, also of Atlantic City.

The other teen was in possession of a loaded handgun, Fair said. He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and certain person not to possess a weapon.

Chapman had more than 100 grams of marijuana and paraphernalia used in the distribution of narcotics. He was charged with possession with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia, and released on a summons.

The Galloway Township Police Department and Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office assisted in the investigation.
