A report of juveniles instigating a fight led to the arrest of two 16-year-olds with stolen guns, Hamilton Township police said.
Officers were called to the 3000 block of Ivy Bush Court in Mays Landing at about 8:11 p.m. Saturday for a report of disorderly juveniles outside of a residence attempting to instigate a fight, police said.
Before police arrived, two 16-year-old boys came out of the residence with handguns, and the group fled, according to the report.
Two shots were reported to have been fired, but no injuries were reported.
A short time later, officers were called to the area of the 4403 Black Horse Pike, where the armed suspects continued to chase the juveniles, according to the report.
Officers took the teens into custody after a brief foot chase. Two stolen handguns were recovered, according to the charges.
The teens — one from Mays Landing and one from Egg Harbor Township — were charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of weapon for an unlawful purpose, receiving stolen property and resisting arrest.
They were lodged in the Harborfields Atlantic Youth Center.
Another juvenile, a 13-year-old girl, was charged with simple assault and released.
