A Somers Point man was arrested Thursday in a March shooting that wounded an Atlantic City man.
Jawaun Yeoman, 25, was arrested after Officer Christopher Campbell recognized him from a flyer distributed by detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.
Yeoman was seen entering a parked vehicle as the officer awaited backup, according to the report.
Campbell and Officer Thomas Gilardi then conducted a motor vehicle stop and ordered Yeoman out of the vehicle, Aristizabal said.
He complied and was placed into custody without incident.
Yeoman allegedly had a loaded handgun in his waistband. it was a so-called "ghost gun," because it had no serial number, according to the charges.
There was no victim at the scene, but a 33-year-old man arrived at the emergency room minutes later with a gunshot wound, Aristizabal said.
Yeoman was one of three teen arrested in 2017, in an assault and armed robbery.
While court records show that case was disposed, it was not clear if he did any prison time.
Yeoman was sentenced to five years in prison in 2018 for a similar case from 2015, court records show.
He now faces charges of aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, conspiracy, certain person not to possess weapons, possession of a "ghost gun," possession of a defaced firearm and possession of a large-capacity magazine.
Yeoman is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility awaiting a detention hearing.
