A large group came together this week to help beautify the community garden at the Atlantic City Boys and Girls Club.
The club's Chief Strategy Officer Brian Little and Atlantic City Police Sgt. Brian Shapiro hosted the event that included their organizations along with the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, students from the Atlantic County Institute of Technology and volunteers from Reed's Farm in Egg Harbor Township.
They removed weeds, built planters, mulched and planted new flowers and vegetables to create a welcoming environment for the children who use the space.
"The event was a huge success, not only in terms of the work accomplished, but in the sense of community that was fostered by the collaboration of so many different groups," a release read.
"The volunteers left feeling proud of their efforts and inspired by the impact they were able to make in the lives of the children and families who rely on the Atlantic city Boys and Girls Club."
Those who participated included Prosecutor William Reynolds, Atlantic County Chief of Detectives Pat Snyder, Community Outreach Director Raymond Royster, Deputy Director Shavonne Davis and Richard Cornett.
