Two Atlantic City men were arrested Monday after police allegedly found a loaded handgun during a car stop.
Ronaldo Paul, 24, was seen in a drug transaction by officers targeting the area of Bellevue and Florida avenues in response to complaints from residents, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
Detectives Alberto Valles, Eric Evans and Christopher Dodson and Officer Ivaylo Ivanov then stopped the vehicle Paul got into.
Paul was in possession of marijuana packaged for sale.
The driver, Steven Jaquez-Perez, was taken into custody after a search of the vehicle recovered a loaded handgun and more marijuana packaged for sale, according to the report.
More than 164 grams of marijuana was recovered.
Police remind the public that marijuana should only be purchased through licensed cannabis dispensaries.
Jaquez-Perez, 25, and Paul were charged with possession, possession with intent to distribute, possession within a school zone, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition and possession of a weapon while committing a drug offense.
Both are in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
