One person was badly burned in a condominium fire in Brigantine on Thursday morning.
Firefighters were called to the Dolphin Cove Condominiums at 8:47 a.m., Fire Chief Paul Fuller said.
Charlie Platoon, under the command of Acting Capt. Dan Hurtt, arrived to find smoke coming from a second-floor apartment, according to the report. Police were tending to the single victim on the front lawn.
A second alarm called off-duty firefighters to the scene along with mutual aid from Atlantic City, including Engine 3 and an Exceptional BLS ambulance to cover the remainder of Brigantine.
Brigantine firefighter/EMTs treated and transported the patient, who suffered extensive burn injuries, to the helipad at the U.S. Coast Guard Atlantic City small boat station, the chief said.
The patient, who was not identified, was then flown to Temple Burn Center for treatment.
The fire was brought under control at 9:10 a.m. Fire and smoke damage was contained to the apartment of origin, with water damage sustained to the apartment below.
No firefighter injuries were reported.
The cause is under investigation. The fire is not considered suspicious.
