A motor vehicle stop led to the search of a residence and a total of more than 1,400 bags of heroin.
Kenneth Thompson was pulled over by Officer Matthew Crosby at 6:19 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of N. South Carolina Avenue, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
He failed to stop, signal or maintain his lane, according to traffic citations filed in court.
Officer Gissell Garcia and K-9 Officer Jesse Oliver-Logan assisted. Logan's partner, Gee, indicated narcotics in the vehicle, leading to a search, Fair said.
Thompson was found with 200 bags of heroin, according to the charges.
His passenger, Kareem Ellerbee, was found with 50 bags of heroin, 9 grams of cocaine and more than $1,100 in cash, Fair said.
The investigation continued, leading to the search of a residence in the 1300 block of Caspian Avenue. K-9 Gee assisted officers in recovering 1,175 bags of heroin.
Johnette Snowden, 26, was listed on the residence's lease, Fair said. She was charged with possession and possession with intent to distribute and released on a summons.
Thompson, 24, and Ellerbee, 25, were charged with several drug offenses and lodge in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
It was not the first time Thompson and Ellerbee were arrested together on drug charges.
At that time, Thompson was charged with several drug and weapons offenses, including possession of a stolen firearm.
Ellerbee was charged with possession and distribution of heroin. He incurred several more charges after that, court records show. He served a prison sentence, and was released Oct. 7, 2021.
It was not clear what the outcome of Thompson's previous case was.
