An Atlantic City man released from jail Thursday morning allegedly trashed a City Hall office during an overnight stay this weekend.
Sherif Ramadan, 39, was found when workers entered the building Monday morning, and called police, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
Officers Justin Peyton, Hiram Mercado and Rusty Bouffard responded at 8:50 a.m., and took Ramadan into custody without incident.
Whatever the reason, it seems Ramadan has a history of allegedly staying places where he does not belong.
He has a dozen previous arrests dating to June 25 of this year, including nine counts of criminal trespassing, BreakingAC has confirmed.
Ramadan was released from the Atlantic County Justice Facility at about 1:30 Thursday morning, according to jail records. He had been in there since Sept. 16 on a theft charge out of the Atlantic County Central Municipal Court.
That appears to be tied to a credit card theft charge from Sept. 15, out of Atlantic City, where his other pending charges originated.
Ramadan's recent arrests include theft by unlawful taking Sept. 4 and Aug. 22, and a shoplifting charge from Sept. 3. He was released on summonses each time.
The latest charges were placed on a warrant, which means he will be processed at the jail before appearing before a judge to find out if he will be released or if the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office will move to have him detained.
If he is held, there will be a detention hearing in a few days to decided if he will remain jailed or be released with conditions.
Ramadan was also found to have an outstanding warrant, Fair said.
BreakingAC was able to find two outstanding warrants, seeming to come from bench warrants after he failed to appear in court for two of his trespassing cases from July. One of those court dates was last week, when he was still jailed.
Ramadan was not yet listed back in the jail at this writing.
