Pleasantville man admits to gun and more than 1½ pounds of cocaine

  • News

A Pleasantville man faces 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to gun and drug charges Tuesday.

Kelvin Nixon, 60, was arrested in December, after search warrants led to about 1.6 pounds of cocaine, four guns and $815 in cash.

The investigation was a joint effort between the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Unit and Intelligence Unit, along with the Mid-Atlantic HIDTA Task Force with assistance from the Atlantic County SWAT Team.

Nixon faces 10 years under the plea agreement with five years of parole ineligibility.

The Dec. 18, search of his vehicle in Atlantic City led to the cocaine in glass containers for distribution, a Smith & Wesson .38 Special Revolver handgun and 40 hollow point rounds of ammunition.

The next day, a no-knock search Nixon’s residence in Pleasantville led to about 38 glass jars of marijuana, a 12-gauge shotgun, a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun, an American Tactical Model GSG Firefly.22 caliber handgun, rounds of ammunition and several ammunition magazines. Two digital scales were found in a detached garage.

Nixon was then taken into custody.

A later search of his van led to black duffle bags containing a glass jar marked WW with two bags of cocaine, one box of sandwich bags, a digital scale and 10 boxes of THC cartridges with 10 cartridges in each box for a total of 100 cartridges.

Nixon asked to be released from jail following his plea, but Judge Pam D'Arcy agreed with the state that he should remain jailed pending his sentencing, scheduled for Nov. 13.
