  • News

Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a crash Tuesday morning in Egg Harbor Township.

April Taliaferro, 43, of Hamilton Township, was driving west on Washington Avenue approaching the intersection at Fire Road, when a northbound vehicle that was turning crashed into the side of her vehicle, Lt. Mark Mensch said.

Anthony Ruiz, 21, of Blackwood, Camden County, had turned left from Washington Avenue onto Fire Road, according to the report.

Taliaferro had to be extracted from her minivan by the Farmington and Bargaintown fire departments due to damage to her vehicle, Mensch said.

She and Ruiz were taken to local hospitals by Tri-Care EMS with minor injuries.

The intersection at Washington Avenue and Fire Road was detoured for about 45 minutes while crews worked to clear the roadway.

Ruiz was issued a traffic summons for careless driving. The crash is being investigated by Officer Kevin Brady of the Traffic Safety Unit.
