Atlantic City man gets five years for gun possession with distribution-level drugs

  • News

An Atlantic City man was sentenced to five years in prison Monday, for having a gun while in possession of drugs with intent to distribute.

Elijah Harris, 24, must serve at least 3½ years of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.

He and Xavier Martin were arrested May 27, 2022, on the first block of South Florida Avenue, as part of an investigation into drug activity in the area.

Harris admitted last month that he had a handgun in his backpack while possessing drugs with the intent to distribute them

It was Harris’ first indictable conviction, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Martin already was on probation for a cocaine conviction at the time of his arrest with a loaded handgun.

He was sentenced to the same time in June, and is currently in the Garden State Youth Facility. He will be eligible for parole Nov. 25, 2025.
