A large fire destroyed the second floor of a home on Simpson Avenue in Ocean City on Monday afternoon.
Ocean City firefighters responded at 4:46 p.m. to battle the blaze at 1414 Simpson Ave.
Three people inside the home were displaced but not injured. A firefighter suffered a minor injury.
The Ocean City Fire Department arrived within three minutes of the emergency call and “was met by a large fire” located on the second floor of the property, according to a news release.
Firefighters from Ocean City, Marmora and Margate quickly established hose lines to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to surrounding homes.
The fire was placed under control at around 5:25 p.m. It is under investigation by the Ocean City Fire Department Investigation Unit, Ocean City Police Department and the New Jersey State Fire Marshal’s Office.
