Atlantic City man arrested for dumping dogs at Humane Society

  • Crime-Courts

An Atlantic City man is charged with four counts of animal cruelty after he allegedly dumped dogs at the Humane Society after hours.

Jahlil McNeal, 23, was named by several people after video was posted last month of a man hoisting a dog over the fence of the building on Absecon Boulevard, and dropping her.

The dog lands on her side, and then gets up. She was missing patches of fur.

An investigation by Atlantic City Human Law Enforcement Officer Matthew Schmidt led to McNeal.

The officer also linked McNeal to a previous incident in which three dogs were dumped, Capt. Kevin Fair said.

McNeal was arrested Saturday by Officers Michael Regalbuto and Alex Torres during a motor vehicle stop in the 1100 block of Baltic Avenue.

He is additionally charged with four counts of failure to provide care to animals, two counts of theft of services and one count of witness tampering.

He was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility, but released hours later, jail records show.

Someone commenting on BreakingAC's story about the incident in July first claimed to be the culprit but then said they knew the person and tried to explain why the incident occurred.
