Four minors include a 12-year-old were arrested in Galloway Township after attempting to burglarize several vehicles in Absecon, police said.
A joint investigation by Galloway and Absecon police led to the arrest of the four from Atlantic City, according to the report.
Absecon police were called at about 1:45 Sunday morning about several individuals attempting to burglarize numerous vehicles, police said.
Galloway police were told the Dodge Journey was heading their way.
Township officers tried to stop the vehicle around Route 30 and Eighth Avenue, but the driver pulled away shortly after stopping, according to the report.
Police found the vehicle in the 300 block of Arbutus Avenue. The suspects fled.
Galloway and Absecon police set up a perimeter to search for the suspects. They also got assistance from K-9 Narco and used surveillance footage from a nearby home in the search.
After several hours, the four were found hiding in various locations, police said.
“This was very impressive work from both the Galloway Township and Absecon City Police Departments”, Chief Richard Barber said. “This coordination and teamwork between our departments is another example of how collaboration with other law enforcement agencies can lead to positive results.”
There was a 12-year-old, 14-year-old and two 13-year-olds.
All four juveniles were charged with numerous crimes and released to their guardians pending a future court date.
Galloway and Absecon police remind residents to keep their vehicles locked and report any suspicious activity.
