Atlantic City police have arrested 14 people in as many days as part of a continued effort to target certain drug areas.
Officers have been deployed to Florida, Bellevue and Texas avenues for more than a month, focusing on quality-of-life issues and the possession and distribution of narcotics, Capt. Kevin Fair said. Complaints have come in from residents and businesses through various means, including Citistat meetings and tip411.
The recent arrests led to almost five ounces of cocaine, 160 individual bags of heroin, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia. Police also issued 10 motor vehicle summonses.
Michael Robinson, 40, and Laron Wright, 31, both of Atlantic City, Waheed Wilkins, 34, of Trenton, remain jailed.
Wright and Wilkins face several drug charges. Robinson is charged with possession and contempt.
Eight of those charged were jailed at the time of their arrest, with three still in custody at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
The following individuals were jailed, but have since been released.
Six were released on summonses and not jailed:
The department previously reported 19 arrests and the recovery of two handguns, 195 individual bags of heroin, more than 117 grams of cocaine, five grams of methamphetamine, 11 ecstasy pills and prescription pills, Fair noted.
That was reported in November.
Anyone with information about the distribution or possession of narcotics is asked to call Atlantic City police at 609-347-5858. Information may be submitted anonymously via tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
