Open house to map out Atlantic City road plans

Residents can get details about Atlantic City's planned road improvements during a presentation next week.on plans for the city's road improvements wanting to know more about the street

The city Engineering Office will host a Public Information Center from 5 to 7 p.m. next Tuesday at the Atlantic Cape Community College Worthington Campus, 1535 Bacharach Blvd.

The open-house format will allow residents and local business owners to review the 2024 road project plans. City engineering staff and consulting engineers will be on hand to answer any questions.

The public will then have the opportunity to offer feedback.

The plans include:

Atlantic Avenue Safety 'Road Diet'

Safety improvements to Atlantic Avenue include the reduction to three lanes from Mississippi to Albany avenue dubbed the "Road Diet."

Five lanes will remain from Tennessee to Mississippi avenues.

But more is planned for Atlantic.

This project includes the milling and paving, along with synchronization of signals on from Maine to Albany avenues.

Enhanced street lighting is planned from Tennessee to Albany avenues.

Baltic Avenue Improvements

This project includes milling and paving the full width of Baltic Avenue from Maine to Missouri avenues.

There will be upgrading to ADA ramps, thermoplastic, striping and sidewalk and curb improvements where needed.

Pacific Avenue Signal Optimization

This project includes installation of fiber optic cable and the synchronization of signals on Pacific Avenue from Hartford to Massachusetts avenues. 

Fiber lines also will be installed between Pacific Avenue and City Hall and the Public Safety Building to manage the system. 

Full width paving restoration will occur on any roads impacted by the fiber installation.
