Breaking the mold: BreakingAC introduces the lighter side

  • Feature

Hi. I’m Michelle Tomko.

Some of you know me from my stand up comedy business. Some of you may remember me from my local beat at Casino Connection, Boardwalk Journal or iGaming Player. I’m also a trained actor and copywriter.

Now, I'm joining BreakingAC as it expands beyond the legal drama, crime and community current events that affect the area.

You already know BreakingAC as a trusted news source.

But the hard news reporting left little time for the fun stuff.

Well that’s about to change.

Not only can you still visit BreakingAC for late-breaking news, press conferences and courthouse decisions. But now, you’ll also be able to read about what’s going on in entertainment, community organizations, charities, gaming and art houses with our new entertainment section.

But if you’re just looking for a regurgitation of press releases, maybe this isn’t for you. Because we are going to stick with the trusted and true tenants of what makes BreakingAC tick: honesty and integrity.

If it’s good, you’ll know. If it’s “meh,” I’ll tell you about it.

We’re going to bring you clear and fair restaurant reviews. We are going to be visiting grand venues and small hole-in-the walls. We are going to let you know how you can get in the game and volunteer or support local artists.

And guess what? We’re taking requests.

In the coming months, you’ll hear about what's happening at the Tropicana and Ocean. But you’ll also see me ducking into A.C. Sandwiches for a bite, taking an art class at Union Hall Arts, or promoting great fundraisers like Let’s Get Cookin’ benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City.

And, since this is a gaming town, we will try and keep you up on the latest promotions, and maybe throw in a few poker tips.

Now we can’t get to everything. But there is a comprehensive calendar of events you can check out 24/7.

What do you want to see? What events or areas are underreported? What are you up to?

There’s going to be a feature section every week with an in-depth look at a major creative contribution to our area.

Be sure to check out the entertainment section weekly not only to stay in the know of who is coming to town, but what your creative neighbors are up to. Be sure to like, follow and engage so BreakingAC can continue to bring you the news you count on, the information your family needs, and now, the entertainment you crave free of charge.

No paywalls here!

Thanks for reading,
