A Mays Landing man who served time for the 2015 stabbing of his mother has admitted to killing her nine years later.

Sean Daly, 53, faces 30 years without parole after pleading guilty to murder Friday in March 20 stabbing in the same Quinn Avenue home where he attacked the woman March 3, 2015.

Melba Daly, 74, was found dead with a knife in her neck after a family member called police saying he believed an assault had taken place inside the Harding Lakes home.

Her son previously served a four-year prison term for attempting to kill her in 2015.

Melba Daly filed a restraining order at that time. It did not appear that was still in place at the time of her death.

The affidavit of probable cause listed his address as his mother's home.

At his detention hearing in March, Daly's attorney cited mental health issues, including bipolar. But Judge Pam D'Arcy ordered him held, saying that those same issues would have been in place in 2015.

He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 11.

Daly remains in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
