Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City receives $15,000 grant

  • Atlantic City

The Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, a local nonprofit organization helping young people realize their full potential, was awarded a $15,000 grant from Bank of America for youth workforce development.

The grant will support the club’s workforce development program, which teaches teens essential soft skills for the workplace. Participants can earn industry certifications, such as ServSafe for safe food handling, OSHA safety and CPR. Teens are also introduced to careers in hospitality, healthcare, cosmetology, and STEAM through speakers, onsite classes, and internships.

“When young people are introduced to the world of work, they’re more likely to dream big and connect what they’re learning to future career opportunities,” CEO Dr. Charles A. Wallace II said in a release. “With generous support from Bank of America, we’re providing the safe spaces, positive mentorship, and work experiences that make a difference. We appreciate Bank of America’s continued investment in our youth and community.”

The grant is part of Bank of America's philanthropic giving efforts in local communities. Awardees were selected for their commitment to address basic needs and workforce development for individuals and families.

“The Boys & Girls Club workforce development program is an investment in our future workforce that is creating opportunities to help local teens thrive,” Bank of America President Jim Dever. “The organization is helping advance equality and economic opportunity in our community, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this program has on the next generation in this region.”

The Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City provides a safe and nurturing environment where youth can develop the skills needed for success in school, work, and life, with programs focused on academic achievement, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles.
