Atlantic County prosecutor honored by Muslim American Law Enforcement Association

  • Public Safety

Atlantic County Prosecutor William Reynolds was honored last week by the Muslim American Law Enforcement Association.

"I  have never seen a prosecutor take such personal interest in helping the displaced folks, the homeless," said Lt. Kamil Warraich, founding president of the MALEA. "He’s out there in the mornings with his staff trying to help them. Getting them back on their feet. I think that’s pretty noble and admirable."

The group has worked often with Reynolds over the past year, with charity events that include bagging up food for different communities in Atlantic County, Warraich told BreakingAC.

Not just the homeless, but also for senior citizens and those "just down on their luck."

"It's unprecedented to see a prosecutor in that much of a direct community outreach," Warraich said. "That was the reason we picked him as the Prosecutor of the Year."

The March 21 event also acted as an Iftar dinner, the fast-breaking meal of Ramadan.

"It is with great honor that I accept this award on behalf of the dedicated, hardworking men and women of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office," Reynolds said. "I am so fortunate to lead such an incredible team of professionals that truly care about our community.

"No words can express our gratitude to MALEA for this recognition, which was based upon ACPO’s dedication to community outreach and engagement especially the homeless and at risk to be homeless population," he added.

"We hope to continue working with him," Warraich said of the prosecutor.
