Mays Landing man indicted for murder in second knife attack on mother in nine years

  • Crime-Courts

A Mays Landing man who served time for the 2015 stabbing of his mother has been indicted for murder in her killing nine years later.

Sean Daly, 53, allegedly admitted to fatally stabbing his mother in the neck March 20, in the same Quinn Avenue home where he attacked March 3, 2015.

He served a four-year prison term for attempted murder in that case.

Hamilton Township police were again called to the home at about 11:38 a.m. this past March 20,

Melba Daly, 74, was found dead inside.

At Sean Daly's detention hearing in March, his attorney cited mental health issues, including bipolar disorder.

But Judge Pam D'Arcy noted that Daly would have had those same issues in 2015, and it was not enough to keep him out of prison for that crime.

She noted Daly is possibly a danger to himself, and definitely a danger to family members.

He remains in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
